ABSTRACT

The World Health Organization has declared the SARS Covid 19 virus as a global pandemic due to its exponential transmission throughout the world. They have advised people to keep safe distances, to wash hands frequently, to wear a proper mask, and to get vaccinated at the earliest. They have also introduced new guidelines to adhere to the new normal. Despite these recommendations, public health system capacities have been exhausted in many countries and has caused deaths due to limited access to health care facilities. To reduce the number of deaths, WHO has further encouraged countries to implement home quarantine programs for people who are exposed to Covid 19 or have been a first contact of a Covid 19 patient. The purpose of this paper is to describe the development of an android-based application to monitor, track and advise the general public on various aspects of Covid 19 pandemic. This system mainly consists of an analytic dashboard that consists of latest statistics of Covid 19 pandemic, a health care monitoring system that can interact in real-time with health care authorities, an awareness platform to provide time-to-time updates on the latest guidelines provided by the health care authorities and also a Covid 19 contact tracing mechanism based on the google map. This system was tested with the help of randomly selected staff members and students of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya.

ABSTRACT

As the advancement in technology continues to increase, systems also need to be upgraded to meet new trends and solve developing problems. Existing systems of home automation generally focus on energy management, security, and comfort These smart homes would he more efficient if they can also perform health diagnoses. In this paper, a cost-effective IoT-based home automation system that performs the function of energy conservation, smart security, and disease detection is designed. The system uses the NodeMCU ESP8266 IoT board with its in-built Wi-Fi shield, eliminating the need to acquire a separate Wi-Fi module. The NodeMCU is interfaced with the user's android device where the connected loads on the relay modules are controlled thus enabling the system to control home appliances via an android application. The ESP8266 is also connected to a PIR sensor that checks for motion and triggers an alarm when motion is detected and connected to a contactless temperature sensor that measures the body temperature of anyone and sends the readings to the display while also triggering an alarm if the temperature is above normal indicating the sign of illness or diseases such as coronavirus, high fever, influenza. This paper presents a design of a simple system that not only assists the user to control his home appliances, conserve energy, and improve home security but also helps to protect the user from allowing covid-19-infected persons into their home.

ABSTRACT

Nowadays, the number of smartphone users shopping online over the internet is increasing due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation. People need to stay safe at home and work from home according to the social distancing policy. It is difficult for people to go shopping onsite at a physical store. Especially, cosmetic consumers cannot try on cosmetic products, and they are not sure which product is suitable for them. Therefore, to solve these problems, this research project proposes 'Beauty Face', which is an android application for cosmetic consumers who would like to try on products and receive recommendations. The Beauty Face application allows users to find the desired products and view product information. Also, it provides a useful feature for users to try on products by applying augmented reality (AR) technology to simulate cosmetic and beauty products on the user's face. Moreover, the Beauty Face application can recommend products that are appropriate for users by applying machine learning (ML) technology. The Beauty Face application can be helpful for cosmetic users to be more convenient in buying cosmetic and beauty products online and reducing chances of being infected or spreading COVID-19. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Patients with COVID-19 generally recover within a fortnight or a month. However, some patients, even those with milder types of the disease, experience symptoms after they have recovered. Symptoms of COVID-19 might continue for months at a time. The virus affects the heart, brain, and lungs, perhaps leading to long-term health-related problems. Thus, it is critical to keep track of any post-COVID symptoms to prevent further complications. Keeping that in focus, two apps are created to monitor these symptoms in people who have recovered from COVID 19 with comorbidities includes Diabetes, coronary artery diseases and hypertension. In this project, the patient's data was obtained from selected hospitals in Pune, and stored in Google Firebase. This data was used while making the backend algorithms for the apps. Android Studio and Figma were used to design and develop these apps. One app will be used by the patients, which allows them to post their health conditions if they are suffering with symptoms of post COVID complications and another App will be used by the investigators to monitor these symptoms and provides an access to post the advises pertaining to the patient's health condition. The biggest challenge is with patients suffering from conditions like hypertension, diabetes and other chronic illness which can be fatal if not monitored and addressed, specially for the elderly to frequently visit the hospital just for monitoring. The prime objective of the app developed in this work is to provide monitoring and to prevent post COVID complications and save the life of patients who have recovered from COVID and already have underlying issues. These apps allow researchers/Doctors to contact the patients personally to counsel them against the symptoms they are experiencing. Both these apps were tested in Android 8 Oreo and are functional in Android 8 Oreo, Android 9 Pie, Android 10, and Android 11 supported devices. These applications will soon be deployed in the Play Store. © 2023 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

In the year 2021, a virtual reality training application has been developed, specifically for the Oculus Quest 2 headset, in order to allow the users to view and analyse 3D models for a wide variety of geometrical tolerances, tolerance zones and even the conformity condition and the datum features. This application allows the students to better understand the geometrical tolerances in accordance with the latest ISO GPS standards by using different 3D interactive models in order to highlight different types of geometrical tolerances and tolerance zones. In order to try to make the virtual reality training application more mobile and accessible for students, a mobile application, designed for the android operating system smartphones, has been developed. This application can facilitate better learning outcomes within the teaching-learning process by enabling the students to visualize a wide variety of 3D models representing different types of geometrical tolerances. Due to the dramatic evolution of technology in the past 20 years and the need to constantly keep up with it, the learning and teaching process suffered a massive change. The Covid pandemic has closed Universities all over the world and so, for the teaching process to continue, a sudden shift from traditional teaching to a more modern one involving the digital world was needed. Thanks for the fact that, nowadays, students are more inclined to use different types of mobile devices, the shift to the new learning paradigm has not left a great "scar” on student and teachers. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

ABSTRACT

Following the global pandemic of COVID-19, in August 2021, Indonesia achieved a total of 3.930.300 cases, the highest in Southeast Asia. However, the government is keen on promoting the new normal phase and planning to open schools and permit face-to-face learning, from elementary up to universities. This means that public facilities and infrastructures will be used and can be the medium for virus transmission, as it will require 48 to 72 hours for the virus to be inactive on those surfaces. This will make people reluctant to touch surfaces, especially when it comes to public facilities that can provide for their needs. One of the most important is the need for hydration which is often overlooked. About 25% of college students were found dehydrated, and 37,5% showed signs of it. Dehydration could prove a serious threat to health had it been overlooked and could affect physical and cognitive performance, having more effects on students and lectures, requiring both in their activities. To support the needs of hydration amidst the pandemic, this research developed a touchless water dispenser system using the waterfall model, utilizing a cloud database with ESP32, controlled by users through an android application. The design is easy and cheap to install, even on regular dispensers, making it an effective and efficient alternative public facility providing hydration service to support the new normal phase © IJASEIT is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International License

ABSTRACT

Patients commonly visit to hospitals for monitoring and treatment of their chronic diseases especially in COVID-19 epidemic ultimately increases the patients and hospitals' burden. The foremost advancement with respect to examining a patient's critical condition in such pandemic is remote patient monitoring and providing treatment via telemedicine. The main objective of this paper is to provide a novel Internet of Things (IoT) based system for continuous remote monitoring of patients' location, health statistics related to COVID-19 infection, telemedication and maintaining E-health record database. The system monitors oxygen levels and heart-rate signals using MAX30100 (Heart Rate and Pulse Oximeter sensor) and temperature via LM-35 module interfaced with the ESP8266 WI-FI module for web-monitoring. The healthcare sector involving a web server database controlled by cPanel will be used by consultants to have patients' data remotely for telemedicine. Besides, the database is also used as an electronic health record for hospital management system to maintain E-files and history of patients' complications. Moreover, the device monitors the real time location of infected patients using GPS and alerts the medical officials if the patients breach the quarantine norms. The real time location of infected patients also enables the medical authorities to investigate about the total number of COVID-19 cases in any particular area. However, the android application is developed for patients' family/relatives so that they can also monitor the patient condition to take the necessary actions before the worst condition arises. The developed system is efficient in providing integrated services to assist healthcare officials, minimize cost, maintains security and upgrade disease diagnosis speed in less time. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

A most life-threatening situation caused by a novel coronavirus has been unfolding over the last 2years at breakneck speed. The general public is desperate to learn more about how the current situation with COVID-19 is unfolding, including statistics on the number of people who have been affected, as well as news about deaths, recovery rates, and the various ages of people who have been affected across India, particularly those with disabilities and the elderly. This chapter is intended to combine the COVID-19 demand and proceeds with the available statistics onto a single platform. The virus has spread across the globe, and much of the information in the public domain is not accurate. It also affects people adversely if information is unreliable, and so there should be dependable and trustworthy data that individuals can use and rely on in such perilous situations. COVID HUB, a valuable smart application, will provide the public with the accurate information that they deserve. This suggested handy application includes data on the number of people impacted, death rates, recovery rates, and the numbers of elderly and differently abled people affected. The information sources for this new smart app are observed through the application program interface, which obtains data from a remote source, maps its key points and values, and aligns them in a data center. Once the app is started automatically by the system, the application program interface call is made. If COVID symptoms are detected in one or more of the neighboring states, this function collects all of the phone numbers to be dialed from each state. Dart is used for implementation of this COVID HUB. Flutter, which supports both Android and iOS, as well as being a tool chain, coding platform, SDK management, and Dart extensions, are all included in this implementation. © 2022 Elsevier Inc. ABSTRACT

The Healthcare sector has significantly developed a lot. All Nations started giving more importance to the medical field with the appearance of the new Covid19. But, some countries have been struggling with poor infrastructure in the form of insufficient medical equipment and a shortage of manpower in the medical stream. In such a situation, Remote health monitoring will lighten the burden and ease the process. Currently, smart healthcare is a combination of IoT and cloud architecture. The IoT sensors keep track of patients' health and provide clinically relevant data, which can be used for further processing. If we send all of the raw data generated by the sensors to the cloud for bulk data processing and analysis to make real-time decisions. It would impose several risks such as latency issues, bandwidth congestion, network reliability, high storage cost, and security-related issues which can negatively impact the healthcare industry on whole. To overcome the abovementioned issues, we offer 'Edge Computing, A new emerging technology that allows data processing to be done closer to the data generating device'. Our main aim is to strengthen the existing system. In this paper, the proposed system will continuously collect three main vital parameters from patients in real-time and process the collected data both on the cloud and edge architecture to compare and determine which technology is best suited for time-sensitive applications. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Telehealth has become a favorable method for receiving medical care during the COVID-19 pandemic. It reduces physical contact and also benefits those who live a distance from hospitals. In this paper we present a cardiac arrhythmia teletriage using electrocardiogram (ECG). The system consists of a diagnostic algorithm for arrhythmias and an Android application. The diagnostic algorithm can detect five types of cardiac problems-arrhythmia, bradycardia, tachycardia, bradyarrhythmia, and tachyarrhythmia. The Android application is the main communication channel between patients and healthcare providers. The user uploads their ECG and receives a preliminary diagnosis of their heart health via the application. The system notifies the user if it detects any abnormalities. The user can then make an appointment online for further examination at the hospital. The capability of the proposed system is evaluated using four databases from PhysioNet - MITBIH Normal Sinus Rhythm Database, MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database, MIT-BIH Atrial Fibrillation Database, and CU Ventricular Tachyarrhythmia Database. It is found that the algorithm is able to detect abnormal ECG signals with an average accuracy of 82.1%. © 2021 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) pandemic affected more than 186 million people with over 4 million deaths worldwide by June 2021. The magnitude of which has strained global healthcare systems. Chest Computed Tomography (CT) scans have a potential role in the diagnosis and prognostication of COVID-19. Designing a diagnostic system, which is cost-efficient and convenient to operate on resource-constrained devices like mobile phones would enhance the clinical usage of chest CT scans and provide swift, mobile, and accessible diagnostic capabilities. This work proposes developing a novel Android application that detects COVID-19 infection from chest CT scans using a highly efficient and accurate deep learning algorithm. It further creates an attention heatmap, augmented on the segmented lung parenchyma region in the chest CT scans which shows the regions of infection in the lungs through an algorithm developed as a part of this work, and verified through radiologists. We propose a novel selection approach combined with multi-threading for a faster generation of heatmaps on a Mobile Device, which reduces the processing time by about 93%. The neural network trained to detect COVID-19 in this work is tested with a F1 score and accuracy, both of 99.58% and sensitivity of 99.69%, which is better than most of the results in the domain of COVID diagnosis from CT scans. This work will be beneficial in high-volume practices and help doctors triage patients for the early diagnosis of COVID-19 quickly and efficiently.

ABSTRACT

In Bangladesh, there is a shortage of legitimate nourishment data frameworks that can give fitting sustenance messages dependent on various rules for pregnant ladies and newborn children. Lack of healthy sustenance devastatingly affects people's wellbeing and prosperity and the monetary improvement of nations. Conversely, essential or tertiary health laborers couldn't offer vital assistance to them. With so many people becoming ill from the (COVID-19), poor weight control plans exacerbate pre-existing conditions, putting them at greater risk. Individuals living with chronic illnesses who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 must improve their mental health and count calories to ensure that they remain in good health. Look for direct and psychosocial support from suitably prepared wellbeing care experts, including community-based lay and peer guides. Venturing into nourishment counsel, advancing breastfeeding, and battling deception around COVID-19 transmission will offer assistance to protect the role of nutritious nourishment as a partner against sickness. Any health worker in Bangladesh can easily use this application. Our health laborers regularly neglect to convey legitimate nourishment data to moms. Such an instrument can be helpful in giving a proper method to show particular nourishment messages to mothers dependent on their wellbeing stages and dependent on their baby's age. The design of this application can provide a legitimate office for conveying sustenance messages to mothers and workers. This framework may have to be examined occasionally to meet the progression of client prerequisites and be applied properly. © 2021 IEEE.
